RAWALPINDI-(Staff Reporter) Fatima Jinnah Women University organized full dayactivities to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Multiple activities were carried out and different department participated in them. Debating Society arranged speech competition (English / Urdu),Essay writing competition was organized by Dramatic Society, poster competition by Cultural Society on Kashmir issue, Defense and Diplomatic Studies Department and Students Affairs Office organized seminar on Kashmir, Early Child Care Incharge, Dr. Salma Nazar Khan prepared performance of ECC children to show unity and brotherhood with Kashmiri peopleand cricket match arranged by Sports Office to express solidarity withKashmir’s for the right of self-determination.
Ms. Sobia Hanif, Assistant Professor, Defense and Diplomatic Studies Department briefed the audience about historical background of Kashmir issues also discussed human rights abuses and possible demographic change prevalence of draconian laws in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A. It was followed by possible strategies and approaches for the future, leading towards the resolution of the dispute.Faculty members, staff and students attended the seminar. They expressed solidarity with Kashmiri and vowed to continue supporting freedomof struggleafter that Bushra Yasmin,Faculty Advisor, Arts and Social Sciences, distributed the certificates among the winners of competitions and lauded the efforts of society for arranging successful event.
At the end, walk was led by Vice Chancellor, Dr. Saima Hamid.The participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with the slogans of freedom of Indian-Held Kashmir, demanding international community to take notice of human rights violations in the region.While addressing the participants of the walk Vice Chancellor, Dr. Saima Hamid said that strong campaign has been started to expose the brutalities of Indian government on the innocent people of Kashmir and must stand with them.
