RAILWAY LINE, FIBER OPTIC, GAS AND OIL PIPELINE IS ALSO A PART OF CHINA PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR
KASHGAR GWADAR RAILWAY LINE:
A plan to connect Kashgar-Gwadar through a rail link is also a part of CPEC. Through media reports, the possible alignment can be as Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab-Kalat-Mustung-Rohri-Bahawalpur-Multan-Sahiwal-Lahore-Gujranwala-Rawalpindi-Havelian-Abbotabad-Gilgit-Hoston-Kashgar.
This rail link will provide a fast and cheap mean of transportation of trade goods and raw material to the business community.
Through CPEC projects, the overall existing structure of railway is being reconstructed. The railway old line is being replaced by new one to run train at a speed of 150 km per hour as the old one is not capable to run over 120 km per hour.
Under CPEC the signal system of railway is being modernized with electric signal system by replacing old one. Work is in progress to connect Gwadar to other part of country by rail link.
Transportation of coal from Thar to Sahiwal coal power projects will also be done through rail links.
GAS AND OIL PIPELINE:
A gas and oil pipeline from Gwadar to Kashghar is also a part of this China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Through this pipeline oil from Middle East will be transported to China for its consumption Transportation of oil through pipeline is cheap than other sources. An oil refinery in Gwadar is also purposed as a part of CPEC. China is importing oil from Middle East through a long sea route covering a distance of 12000 km. After completion of this pipeline, a distance of 9000 km will be cut off for China which will reduce transportation cost of oil for China. China is also interested to join Pak-Iran gas pipeline. If this happen then this pipe line will also connected to Pak-Iran gas line.
A 711 km long LNG Pipe Line from Gwadar to Nawab Shah is also a part of CPEC. Total estimated cost of this project is $2.5 million dollar. The Chinese state owned Company China petroleum Pipelines Bureau will construct this pipe line for Pakistan. This 42 inches diameter pipeline will transport 1 billion cubic feet LNG per day. When planned off Shore LNG terminal is completed then additional 500 million transportation of LNG will be possible. This project will provide LNG to Pakistan to reduce the shortage of energy sources in Pakistan.
This project will not be confused by North-South Liquefied Natural Gas Pipeline between Lahore and Karachi a length of 1100 km and TAPI gas pipe line a project of four countries Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Some other LNG projects are also under construction by Chinese assistance like Balloki power plant of 1223 mw near Kasur.
CHINA-PAKISTAN FIBER OPTICS LINE:
For fast communication between Pakistan and China a fiber optical line is also a part of this China Pakistan Economics Corridors. After its completion Pakistan and China will be connected through modern sources of communication. Expected cost of this fiber optics is $ 0.44 billion. The work on this project is in progress near Rawalpindi to Havelian.
