The Chinese Embassy in Senegal held a reception to celebrate the upcoming 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Dakar on Tuesday.
Senegal (CCTV+BATIE)The Chinese Ambassador to Senegal Zhang Xun, Senegal’s Foreign Minister Amadou Ba, and other overseas representatives participated in the event.
“This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC. In the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), China has taken on a completely new look. China has already become the world’s second-largest economy, reaching 13.6 trillion U.S. dollars in GDP in 2018. Compared with 1952, it increased by 174 times. The average annual growth rate is 8.1 percent,” said Zhang.
Foreign Minister of Senegal Ba also delivered a speech to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
“I am pleased to address on behalf of his excellency Senegalese President Macky Sall. The government and the Senegalese people wish to extend our warm congratulations to the Chinese government. We wish all our Chinese friends happiness, continued progress and prosperity,” said Ba.
The reception also held a photo exhibition to showcase the friendship between China and Senegal through cooperation in various fields.
People from all walks of life in Senegal also expressed their wish for the continued bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC.
“I wish our brother country a happy 70th birthday. We rely on each other a lot and have a lot of exchanges with each other, especially in the area of culture. We need to share more with each other for the sake of future generations. Happy Birthday,” said Baba Maal, a famous singer in Senegal.
