Rawalpindi:(Staff Reporter) Sabur Malik, president of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has said that by promoting local tourism, the country can be made attractive for tourism. In order to bring the positive image of Pakistan to the world, it is necessary to facilitate access to tourist destinations.

We must take care of old and historic buildings and business community is ready to contribute in this regard. The security situation has been improved considerably. Foreign tourists are also coming on regular basis. By promoting local tourism Pakistan can become an attractive tourist destination.

He said that tourism accounts for 2.8% of Pakistan’s GDP and 10% of global GDP, and asked the government to make an extensive effort to increase its participation.

He said that the Rawalpindi Chamber has arranged Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur visit for its members to visit, which was aimed at promoting tourist destinations, promoting religious cohesion and addressing the problems faced by the tourism sector.

To promote local tourism it is necessary to reduce the transportation cost so that more people can see the tourist destinations in the country, he suggested.

President Chamber Saboor Malik said that tourism share is very low in national development. He urged on the government to give incentives to the private sector to promote tourism and provide maximum facilities for the tourists.
